The BC Association for Child Development and Intervention (BCACDI) is a provincial non-profit association composed of accredited community agencies that provide developmental and therapy services to children and youth with support needs and their families across British Columbia and the Yukon.
Vision
A province where all children and youth, with their families, receive the developmental supports they need to thrive, and feel included and capable in their communities.
Mission
BCACDI advocates for accessible, inclusive, and effective child development services while working collaboratively with member agencies, government, and community partners to build the capacity of the child development sector.
Core Activities
- Advocacy and sector leadership: Acts as a unified voice in dialogue with government on policy, priorities, and sustainable resourcing.
- Networking and support: Connects and strengthens provincial member agencies through forums, working groups, and knowledge exchange.
- Training and resources: Develops and shares materials on Indigenous cultural safety, trauma-informed care, brain development, and inclusive practices.
- Community engagement: Participates in province-wide service redesign processes to improve how children and youth with support needs access care.
Services provided by member agencies
BCACDI’s member agencies deliver essential developmental services including:
- Infant Development and Supported Child Development programs
- Early intervention therapies such as occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and physiotherapy
- Behavioural support, family capacity-building, and child and youth mental health partnerships
Governance and structure
BCACDI is governed by a board of directors and guided by a Provincial Advocate. Its members are accredited community agencies serving children and families in diverse regions and contexts, including Indigenous, rural, and urban communities.
Impact and reach
The association strengthens the voice of the child development sector in British Columbia by contributing to policy development, supporting a culturally responsive workforce, and ensuring that services reflect the needs of children, youth, and families throughout the province.
